Hick handymen Val McKee and Earl Bassett can barely eke out a living in the Nevada hamlet of Perfection, so they decide to leave town -- despite an admonition from a shapely seismology coed who's picking up odd readings on her equipment. Before long, Val and Earl discover what's responsible for those readings: 30-foot-long carnivorous worms with a proclivity for sucking their prey underground.

The film opens with a shot of Val (Kevin Bacon) taking a leak off of a cliff. This is first shown from a long distance away, then from behind, but no stream is seen or heard.
Group Tame

While Val, Earl (Fred Ward), and Rhonda (Finn Carter) are trapped on a rock overnight, Earl says, "Well I hate to be crude, but I have take care of some business." Val says, "Me too," and Rhonda says, "Same here." Unzipping is heard, along with a sigh of relief from Earl.
