Scenes
Astronaut Alan Shepard (Scott Glenn) is waiting for his spaceship to be launched and realizes he is desperate to pee. His face gets more and more strained as the camera switches back and forth to shots of his wife commenting on how much coffee he drank, and a shot of an engineer on the ground emerging from a bathroom with the toilet flushing. Finally Shepard is given permission to piss in his space suit, with an obvious sigh of relief. He comments, "Well, I'm a wetback now," as sensors show the warmth enveloping his groin and spreading up his back. This scene is based on Shepard's true account from his autobiography.
